Victory?
Here are reasonable estimates of what last night meant.
Vermont (15 delegates)
Obama 9
Clinton 6
Running total: Obama +3 / Clinton -3
Rhode Island (21 delegates)
Clinton 12
Obama 8
Running total: Obama -1 / Clinton +1
Texas primary (126 delegates)
Clinton 65
Obama 61
Running total: Obama -5 / Clinton +5
Ohio (141 delegates) (actually, I think a delegate or two here could still shift to Obama as votes are counted)
Clinton 76
Obama 65
Running total: Obama - 16 / Clinton + 16
Which brings us back to Texas and the Texas caucuses.
Texas caucuses (67 delegates) (provisional guess work here!)
Obama 36 (about)
Clinton 31 (about)
Final(ish) running total: Obama - 9 / Clinton + 9
Which means, that Obama is only up by… oh, 115 delegates or so, with rumors of another 50 superdelegates set to announce their endorsement of Obama in the coming days.
Obama could, therefore, have a story every day between now and voting in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania about how the party leadership is coming to his banner.
And, frankly, the party should rally to Obama. Hillary is proving to be positively … well, Clintonian… in her willingness to destroy the party and its future in an effort to ensure she wins the current fight. Her answer regarding Obama’s religious faith was entirely Nixonian. Her comment about John “W” McCain’s experience vs. Obama’s is practically an ad for the Republicans if Obama is the nominee. I am deeply, deeply disappointed in Hillary and her advisers. They need to remember that there is something more important that winning the primary. There is governing.
Your turn to snark!
